Migrate Dropbox Business to Google Drive
Cloud has become an essential part of our lives. Businesses are no different. There are times when businesses need to move a few files from one cloud account to another, or they might need to switch from one service to another. In this tutorial, we will discuss simple and straightforward ways to move files from Dropbox Business to Google Drive.
Why Do Some Businesses Migrate from Dropbox Business to Google Drive?
Some companies might choose to migrate from Dropbox Business to Google Drive because it offers some additional features:
- Office Productivity Tools: Google Drive offers a set of productivity tools. You can create, edit and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations online without downloading a full-fledged Office software. Although Dropbox Business offers integration with Microsoft Office, some businesses may still prefer Google Drive apps.
- Google Photos: Google Photos is a massive online photo storage service from the search giant. It helps users automatically backup their photos and videos, and organize them by their faces, date, and location. The AI-powered intelligent search makes it easier to quickly search photos so that you can edit or print them, or create a slideshow. Dropbox Business does not offer any similar service.
- File Streaming: Both Google Drive and Dropbox Business offer software to sync your files online. However, Google Drive offers file streaming feature that lets users edit documents from their PCs as if they were stored locally. The streaming feature is unavailable in Dropbox Business.
- API Support: Businesses can use Google Drive APIs to integrate the Google Drive service in their apps. Your organization can manage files on the cloud, share them with teams, automate numerous file management tasks, and build custom solutions. Dropbox does not provide a similar powerful API support.
- Google Workspace for Education: Google Drive also provides a set of productivity and collaboration tools for educational institutions for free for K-12 schools. If you’re running a non-profit organization, you can also grab it for free.

Does ECM Offer A Free Plan?
ECM has a free plan that offers a limited bandwidth transfer every month. Once you reach the transfer quota, you will need to wait until the next month to automatically renew it.
Why Choose ECM Over Manual Cloud File Transfer?
It is also possible to manually transfer files from one account to another. When you transfer your files manually, there are no bandwidth limitations. You do not incur any third party service charges. You will have complete control over your data.
However, manual file transfer has major limitations. You will need to spend a lot of time and effort to transfer your cloud files. If you need to transfer files repetitively, we don't recommend this method.
